Super excited to play this backyard show with Graven in Ottawa! I originally met Matty through George Strombouloupolis’s LNC on Instagram. I started attending Matty’s weekly Friday night online shows and slowly became pals with him. In the summer, he played two backyard shows in Ottawa and invited me to drive down to hang out! Omg! What a weekend! We met for the fits time in real life and basically laughed the entire time! Looking forward to being back! A HUGE thanks to Rachel who is hosting the event! Going to be fun!
Simeon Ross - ‘Under The Gun’ (Official Music Video)
I had a blast shooting the ‘Under The Gun’ music video with fellow Toronto Film School acting graduates Richard Wolf & Matthew McDonald. Richard and I spent a few days wandering the streets of Toronto. It was hilarious as half the people ignored Richard completely, and the other half yelled comments or would come up to us to tell jokes! Matt and I climbed down a sheer mountainside and hiked a river gorge (with full gear) to reach the The Devil’s Punchbowl in Hamilton, Ontario. What an adventure. The shoot ended at dusk and we found ourselves climbing back up in the dark! Thanks for watching!

The 'Solar Flares' footage was shot a few years ago starring actor Julianne Hjartarson. This was one of the first DIY video projects I attempted on my own using the old Canon 5D Mark II and basic gear. I remember we used a tripod gaff-taped to a skateboard for slider shots! Haha! The edit was put on the back burner as I attended the acting program at Toronto Film School, and became frustrated by dead pixels found in post. I've spent days & days trying to fix the dead pixels with Tokyo PixelReAnimator but I've given up and don't care anymore! Haha! Don't get me wrong, the Canon was an excellent camera for many years until this issue forced me to upgrade after many failed repairs. This video is far from perfect. I said recently to Julianne that I wished we could have shot this video in 2020 with my Sigma fp, proper gear (gimbal, lights, lenses etc), knowing more about exposure levels, and with more experience in editing. She said there's a certain charm that we shot a video without a budget in one night and used shoe laces (literally) to keep the equipment and props together! Thanks to my drummer Gail Thompson for standing in as the killer! Big thanks to Graham Ameron for designing the 'head in a jar' photo which was then laminated and placed in a jar with pickle juice, a wig, and food colouring! Haha! It looked super real and super creepy! Simeon Ross - ‘Combat. My Love’ (Official Music Video)
Over the past few months in self isolation during Covid -19 I’ve had a chance to re-edit and colour correct a couple of lost music videos. ‘Combat, My Love’ was a song (music video directed by Ricardo Temporao AKA Brutus Begins) that I decided not to release. It was shot a few years ago in Toronto’s High Park and was made on a zero budget. Basically Rick and I went out and spent the day shooting for fun! I did NOT realize ticks were still a danger in November otherwise this video would never have existed! That night I came down with a fever (thankfully no tick bites). You can see the sickness creeping in on a few of the close up shots in the pouring rain. For that reason alone I decided it was worth posting! :D This song is about spending a lifetime playing in various bands then deciding to move forward as a solo artist. The follow up video “Solar Flares’ will come out next week! Thanks for watching!

The mocumentary is about two struggling actors that open an acting theatre 🎭 based on the recently discovered teachings of fictitious 19th century Russian thespian ‘Vladimir Tragicheskiy’. As ‘Theatre of Tragicheskiy’ becomes a success, Goodthrust discovers it’s a fraud and tries to take it down! Such a fun shoot day with an amazing cast and crew via Pia Bouman School for Ballet and Creative Movement!

Simeon Ross is a Toronto based singer/songwriter who has been involved in numerous groups and solo projects over the years. He has recently released a brand new single “Arise”. The track sounds like 2000’s British Pop/Rock not too far off from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The track is well recorded and very radio friendly.
