ACTING
Simeon Ross began theatre training at the age of fourteen, attending Winnipeg’s Prairie Theatre Exchange, which lead to various local television commercials. Simeon joined a band soon after which led to a decade of selling out 500 -1000 seat venues across the country. During this time acting took a back seat to life on the road. After settling in Toronto, Simeon began to immerse himself in the world of film with several filmmaker friends learning the craft of editing, cinematography, writing, and producing. This led to acting in several short films and music videos. In 2017, Simeon started a production company with his sister and father, Green Boat Productions, specializing in film and music videos. In 2017, Simeon also decided to get serious about training as an actor and successfully auditioned for the Diploma Program at Toronto Film School. In 2019, Simeon Graduated With Distinction achieving both Honours and President’s List. In January, 2019 Simeon starred in The Dialogue with American actor Arthur Redcloud (The Revenant) shot on location in Dallas, Texas. In 2022, Simeon is currently an instructor at Toronto Film School teaching ‘Producing & Directing’ and ‘Basic Camera Skills’ to actors. In 2022, Simeon started a new production company (TBA) with filmmaker/photographer, April Beatson. Pre-production has started on an upcoming indigenous based short film, ‘The Voice Hunter’, alongside producer Jennifer Yorke. New upcoming music video and short film releases starting in August, 2023.
FILM & THEATRE
Simeon has starred in several short films including Frequencies, The Loud Empty, The Dialogue, Last Call, Theatre Of Tragicheskiy, The Visitor, and Dead Wake. Simeon’s voice over credits include Canned Meat and The Lodge both directed by award winning filmmaker Terril Calder. He has starred in multiple music videos for Simeon Ross, Fast Romantics, Skinny Bitches, and Shoot The Image. Simeon’s theatre experience includes The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and The Ninja Sekigahara. Simeon stage managed the TFS play ‘Alurum Within’ directed by Ralph Small.
MUSIC
Simeon Ross has proven himself a tireless pop songwriter, having written and released more than 10 albums with various bands and solo projects including Red Autumn Fall, Charmer, Infighter, Shoot The Image, Uniter and currently under Simeon Ross (Solo). His recordings have dovetailed nicely with UK based bands and the rise of Canadian alternative pop allowing him to share the stage with Oasis, 54-40, The Watchmen, Secret Broadcast, Matthew Good, Rheostatics, Blue Rodeo, Barenaked Ladies, Toad The Wet Sprocket, The Pursuit Of Happiness, Peter Murphy (of Bauhaus), Fast Romantics, and Rob Dickinson (of The Catherine Wheel) among many others.
December 2008 brought about a chance online friendship with Boz Boorer, guitarist and co-writer with Morrissey. Also a renowned producer (Adam Ant, Cut Chemist, Kirsty MacColl), Boorer invited Simeon to record his project, Shoot The Image, at his studio based in the Monchique mountains of Portugal during the summer of 2010. The debut album from Shoot The Image, Cranes In The City, was self-released in 2011. Four music video releases and tour dates in Canada and UK followed through to 2013. Critical acclaim was swift including Alan Cross calling them "slick, slinky coolness". In 2013, after losing a key band member, the project was renamed Uniter followed by the debut self-titled EP release in 2016. In 2018, Simeon released new music under his own name with the ‘Arise’ music video. The new ‘Westmount’ EP was released in October.18th, 2019. Simeon is currently writing and recording new tracks for an EP release in the summer of 2024.
